VLSI Ltd is a veterinary diagnostics laboratory established in Cork City in 2007 and dedicated to providing quality laboratory services to small and large animal practices across Ireland.
Our aim is to deliver a world class personalised service that truly helps and supports vets in their provision of animal medicine.
Our specialist areas are companion animals and exotic animals. Our competencies embrace all aspects of clinical pathology and are best displayed in how we shape our activities to meet the particular needs of our clients. We deliver not just timely results, but clear expert reports, (combining all aspects of clinical pathology), diagnoses and suggested treatments.
The laboratory is based at premises in Cork City and is staffed by highly trained and experienced technical personnel. We aim to carry out routinely requested diagnostic testing in-house which will result in more accurate results with a faster turnaround time. The laboratory is fronted by Andy Torrance, recognised as a specialist by two American Colleges, Veterinary Internal Medicine and Pathology, the European college of Veterinary Clinical Pathology and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. Since July 2001 he had co-founded 6 laboratories in the UK which provide an accessible, personal and expert diagnostic service to veterinary surgeons in practice. This venture with Irish colleagues is bringing the same diagnostic expertise and philosophy of service to Ireland.
A courier service is now well established in Cork, Dublin, Limerick, Galway and Waterford collecting samples from local practices. Through our partners Fastway Couriers, we are now able to offer a courier service to any practice in the country.
VLSI was established in 2007 by Mark Diamond and Andrew Torrance (founders of the TDDS group) and Lucy Gaffney (an Irish biotechnologist who founded DNA Ireland).
Together Torrance, Diamond and Gaffney have grown VLSI from it’s humble beginnings into Ireland’s leading commercial veterinary laboratory.
